Open Scratch

If you do not remember how to open Scratch, refer back to Practice Assignment 1.

 

Copy File

Use the link here to save a copy of the file RockPaperScissorsJan31.sb (A Section) (B Section) to your computer. Open the file in Scratch so you can see what has been completed on this projects so far.

 

Add Functionality

To complete this practice assignment, add the following functionality to the project.

  • Implement the buttons so that if the human user chooses paper or scissors, the correct image appears.
  • Finish the implementation so that the scoring is correct based on the human and computer's choices.

 

Save File

When finished, save the file with a new name (Practice2.sb).


Submitting the Assignment

For Scratch projects, you do not need to zip anything, you simply need to submit the file you just saved.

Practice Assignments have varying due dates throughout the semester. This assignment is due to be completed by the end of the day, Friday, March 18, 2011.


Grading Information

Please make sure to look at your grading information on Web-CAT. See the grading information page for more details about how to interpret Web-CAT grade reports. Recall, this assignment will not be automatically graded by Web-CAT. It must be hand graded by a TA, but the grade will still be available through the Web-CAT interface.

This assignment was graded as follows:

(15 points) When the human selects paper, the image of the paper appears.

(15 points) When the human selects scissors, the image of the scissors appears.

(15 points) Human chooses rock and computer chooses paper (and reverse) scores correctly.

(15 points) Human chooses rock and computer chooses scissors (and reverse) scores correctly.

(20 points) Human chooses paper and computer chooses scissors (and reverse) scores correctly.

(15 points) Ties in the game produce some visible output to the human player. This can be a scoring change or some other visual indicator that there has been a tie.

(5 points) When the user selects the green flag, all of the scores should be reset to 0.
