Magnum (mid-1970s): From Acid Rock to Slow Blues
Lead Guitar: Dave Pritzlaff
Rhythm Guitar: Chris Henn
Bass Guitar: Russ Miller
Drums: John Furman
Brief History: John Furman and Russ Miller had played in
several bands together during the early and mid-1970s after developing a
friendship at work. One day, when Russ was hanging out with his childhood
friend and baseball buddy, Chris Henn, the idea developed to form a band
that would play a wide variety of music - everything from the Allman Brothers
to Styx to ZZ Top. Chris invited his friend Dave Pritzlaff to join on
lead guitar and the band went into intensive rehearsals. A variety of
singers came and went, with the most stable form of the band including
singer John Ritazzi. Magnum quickly joined a very active Long Island
scene that included bands such as The Good Rats, Twisted Sister, and Rat Race Choir.
