Here are some replies he got (some of these items only happen on
specific days or dates, but I've listed them here anyway, to give you an
idea of some of the kinds of things to do in the Buffalo/Niagara region
in summer):
-
The
Chautauqua Institution
on a Sunday, picnic at
ArtPark during a
performance (they pipe the sound outside),
Niagara-on-the-Lake,
Toronto
(take the
ferry from Rochester),
this weekend's
Garden Walk (visit
inner city gardens that are sometimes amazing), watch the
ballgame
fireworks from the
Erie
Basin Marina on Friday at about 9:30, the
Tonawanda Canal Fest,
ever been to Lilydale?
(that's a little creepy),
ride the Miss Buffalo
up and down the Niagara River...
-
This weekend, there is the Siege at Old Ft Niagara--French and Indian
War re-enactment, which is very nice, educational, and scenic for people
into those sorts of things. Best days are Sat and Sun--if you go,
plan to be there from 2-4 at a minimum, since that is when they do the
actual battle (would suggest spending 12-4 there--nice time).
-
How about the Amherst Museum
with its outdoor gallery of old houses.
-
There is the
Genesee Country Village & Museum,
another historical tour...
