Workshop Theme

The UB's Center of Excellence on Information Systems Assurance Research and Education (CEISARE), certified by NSA and DHS as a national center of excellence in IA education is conducting research, education and outreach activities in several disciplines of Information Assurance. The research activity of the center ranges from intrusion detection, alert correlation and situation awareness, detection and mitigation of malware on the Internet, insider threat modeling, and wireless networks security. The center is also conducting multidisciplinary research on multi-incident emergency response systems, decision making in emergency situations and women and cyber security in the workforce. The educational initiatives of the center include new course and lab development in areas such as computer forensics, e-commerce security, wireless security and development of an advanced certificate in IA. The outreach activities include  collaboration with neighboring community colleges to develop IA curriculum and certificates and conducting computer security awareness workshops to local high schools.

The purpose of this workshop is to showcase some of the activities of our center of excellence in IA and its partners Erie Community College and FBI. There will be keynote presentations, several invited talks, experience reports on developing security curriculum, practical hands-on sessions on portable education network (PEN) and a tour of the state-of-the-art Regional Computer Forensics Lab (RCFL) at Buffalo. The audience will include FBI InfraGard, 2-year and 4-year colleges from Western and Central New York and Ontario, Canada, and small and medium size businesses in the Western New York area.

Workshop Attendance is by "Invitation Only" and is limited to 150 Participants. Please use the Registration link on the left to pre-register. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation and also a link to unregister, if necessary. Should you not be able to attend the workshop after registering, please unregister at   least 10 days before the Workshop (by March 21st) so that we can allow other participants.
