Workshop Theme The UB's Center of Excellence on Information Systems Assurance Research and Education (CEISARE), certified by NSA and DHS as a national center of excellence in IA education is conducting research, education and outreach activities in several disciplines of Information Assurance. The research activity of the center ranges from intrusion detection, situational awareness, detection and mitigation of malware on the Internet, insider threat modeling and mitigation, vulnerability aggregation and analysis, and wireless networks security and e-commerce security. The center is also conducting interdisciplinary research on multi-incident emergency response systems, decision making in emergency situations and women and cyber security in the workforce. The educational initiatives of the center include new course and lab development in areas such as computer forensics, e-commerce security, wireless security. The outreach activities include collaboration with neighboring community colleges and four-year colleges to develop IA curriculum and certificates and conducting computer security awareness workshops to local high schools. This is the 3rd cyber security awareness workshop conducted by CEISARE since 2006. The purpose of this workshop is to disseminate the activities of our center of excellence in IA and its partners Erie Community College, Genesee Community College, Hilbert College and FBI and also raise cyber security awareness in the region by arranging talks from the experts in the field. There will be a keynote presentation, several invited talks, panel discussions and UB.s research activities presentation in the area of cyber security. The audience will include FBI InfraGard, 2-year and 4-year colleges from Western and Central New York and Ontario, Canada, and small and medium size businesses in the Western New York area.
