Time to share a whole pile of good news from the DB world, on behalf of folks who are far too humble to brag for themselves.

Affiliates and graduates of UB took home a frankly astounding number of the ACM SIGMOD/PODS awards this year, including:

Winners include:

  • Zhuoyue got the ACM SIGMOD Best Paper award for "Low-Latency Transaction Scheduling via Userspace Interrupts: Why Wait or Yield When You Can Preempt"
  • Atri, along with Hung Ngo (former UB faculty) and Mahmoud Abo Khamis got the ACM PODS Test of Time award for "Joins via Geometric Resolutions: Worst-case and Beyond"
  • Mahmoud Abo Khamis, who got his PhD from UB under Hung (and Atri) also got... (ii) the other ACM SIGMOD Best Paper award, (iii) an ACM PODS Best Paper award (as well as a PODS distinguished reviewer award).
