Presentation Grading Breakdown
Stage 1: Topic of presentation (Due at the beginning of class on November 9th) - 10 points
- Points are awarded in this stage based on whether your topic is handed in on time (late submissions receive 0 points) and the topic's appropriateness for the course. Topics that are not appropriate will be given a grade of 2.5 and the group will have one week to submit a revised topic.
Presentation (In-class) - 30 points
- This portion of your grade is assigned by Adrienne based on your in-class presentation.
- Breakdown of points for this section: here
- Order of presentations:
- Group 5
Group 3
Group 2
Group 6
Group 1
- The groups will present in this order, starting at 12:00 on Wednesday, December 5th. Groups will be allowed a maximum of 15 minutes. All groups should be ready to present on Wednesday in case the presentations go much quicker than anticipated. Failure to be ready to present when your group is next will result in receving zero points for this part of the grade and zero points for the audience evaluation as described below.
Project Report (Due at the beginning of class on December 7th) - 35 points
- Project reports will be graded on content, style, grammar and other factors.
- Breakdown of points for this section: here
Audience Evaluations (Completed as you give your presentation) - 15 points
- During the presentation, the audience will be rating the group on several factors. The average scores in these areas will make up the group's audience evaluation points.
- The audience will rate the presentations based on the criterion given here.
- NOTE: All students are required to be in attendance for all presentations and rate the presenters on a form to be provided. Failure to attend the presentations will result in a reduction of a student's Exam 4 grade.
Peer Evaluations (Due by 2:00pm on December 10th) - 10 points
- Each student from the group is to create a single sheet of paper that contains their name as the submitter of the peer evaluations and the names of each of the other group members. On this piece of paper, you will indicate the points awarded to each group member based on the following guideline. You may include additional commentary other than the points awarded, but the points awarded is the most important part of this submission.
- Each person is given 10 points per group member to award. For example, for a team of five, each team member has 50 points to divide amongst all the team members, including themselves. A team member may award a maximum of 15 points to any one person.
- Points should be awarded to team members as an indication of your perception of how much work they did relative to others on the team. If you feel everyone did about the same amount of work you should award everyone 10 points.
- Notice that you evaluate your own contribution. Notice also that you must award all of the points you have available to you. Finally, be aware that the peer evaluations are submitted individually and are confidential – your teammates will NOT know how you rated them.
- Failure to turn in this portion will result in an automatic grade of 0 for your personal project grade. If your peer evaluation was turned in, your grade will be the average grade given to you by your peers up to a maximum of 10 points.
