Ethics in AI Worskshop

December 3, 2019

About

While making agents more intelligent, we need to also consider ethical usage of these agents. One of the OECD’s Principles on AI is that AI should benefit people and the planet. As part of the Reinforcement Learning course in the Fall of 2019 a workshop on ethics in AI issues was held. We created a case study involing an ethical issue relating to a tech company using a large amount of personal data to create a robust AI program.

Workshop Outline:

  1. Read the Case Study
  2. Activity #1 -- Understanding the case (with full group)
  3. Divide into small groups (choose your facilitator)
  4. Activity #2 -- Case analysis (in small groups). Each group is assigned a party to represent (“Tech company”, “Hospital system”, “Patient”)
  5. Activity #3 -- Create a step-by-step decision tree that will ensure privacy and accountability of all involved parties
  6. Summary
