COMPUTER USE

The laboratory for this class is located at Norton 19. The hardware equipment consists of a network of 26 X-terminals served by two Sun Microsystems Sparc servers. The operating system is Solaris 2.6. It is also possible to remote login to the servers. The lab will have at least one consultant present at all the times it is open. The regular lab hours are posted near the lab entrances and are subject to adjustment around project due dates. The labs are usually closed during Spring Break and other special holidays observed by the university. Remember it is always possible to remote login to the system. Also you may use other computing sites that are distributed over the campus: Hochstetter 139, Bell 101 are two such sites you may use for your computing.

To get an account on the Computer Science (cs) system that you will be working on, first get an account on ubunix. If you are registered for the class an account on the cs-machine will be automatically created for you.
