CSE 101 -- Computers -- A General Introduction -- Section JT

Policies

Late Policy

Assignments must be handed in on time, no late assignments will be accepted unless extreme circumstances arise and are properly documented.

Academic Integrity

We will follow the University Policy on Academic Integrity, detailed in the Undergraduate Catalog. For more information see the UB Teaching and Learning Resources Student Conduct Rules web page. A good application of these rules to computer science is given on the department's web page. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the contents of these pages.

Pursuant to the Deparment's policy, anyone caught in violation of the policies on academic dishonesty on any assignment will be given a grade of F in the course. For especially flagrant violations, formal proceedings will be initiated. Such proceedings can call for harsher sanction including expulsion from the University. Your work may be evaluated for infractions of academic integrity at any time up until the time you graduate.

Incompletes

Incompletes (I grades) will be given only in truly extraordinary circumstances where the student is passing the course but an unexpected emergency or serious illness prevents him or her from completing the final exam or one of the lab projects. Do not ask for an incomplete unless you fall into this category.

Attendance

Attendance is important. There tends to be a strong correlation between class attendance and grade performance. Students are expected to attend every scheduled lecture and lab meeting. On the rare occasion that you cannot avoid being absent, you are responsible for getting class notes/assignments from a classmate, and making up missed lab work on your own. Please email (burhans@cse.buffalo.edu) or leave a phone message for your instructor if you are going to miss class (645-3180 ext. 139).

Disabilities

If you have a diagnosed disability (physical, learning, or psychological) that will make it difficult for you to carry out the course work as outlined, or that requires accommodations such as recruiting note-takers, readers, or extended time on exams or assignments, please advise your instructor during the first two weeks of the course and immediately contact the Office of Disability Services. This will allow time to plan for any necessary accomodations.
