Why bother?
In working with "proliferate" I found that the verb algorithm was very
good at categorizing the verb based upon its immediate grammatical
useage.
However determining a consequence (an effect) of a verb was a task left
to the representation of the background knowledge. For the specific
passage of proliferate there seemed to be numerous lines of attacks
available for representing the background knowledge in order to get
CASSIE to guess a reasonable meaning for proliferate.
I actually found that to be the most interesting and fun part. What I
would really like to do is encounter as many unknown verbs as possible,
guess their meaning and see how close I am. I am hoping that there is
some type of pattern will evolve and at the very least I should start
recording all my assumptions as to my guesses to see where it all leads.
The third example is my first effort with this.
