Presentation Four : Guess the verb! : Black can | published Sun, Apr 28, 2002 - 23:20 EDT |
A bit harder than the first example. I was going for tossed.
Other possibilities include:
- threw
- flung
- hurled
- catapulted
- heaved
With the exception of catapulted most of these would be known by an eight grade reader.
My personal opinion is that CASSIE would have a better shot at figuring a consequence for tossed in this example than say deceased in the first example. Consider this sequence of events:
1. CASSIE keeps track of time. It knows that at time A the can was in Tom's hand as he was drinking out of it.
2. CASSIE knows that at time B it was in the tall grass.
3. CASSIE uses predefined rules to determine that if something was in Tom's hand at time A and after being tossed its next known location was the grass on the ground then possibly tossed means to launch something from point X to point Y through the air.
