There will be exercises to do at the end of each chapter. You will submit the exercises to me according to instructions I will provide in the Course Notes. If your exercises are not acceptable, I will send you email asking you to do some of the exercises again. When I accept your exercises for a given chapter, I will update the grade sheet, and you will be considered to have passed that chapter. You cannot pass any chapter until you have passed all previous chapters. Although I will try to give you feedback promptly, you should not expect feedback more often than once every few days---maybe only once a week. This is especially important as the end of the term approaches.
Your grade will be determined by the highest numbered chapter you pass by the time the course ends, according to the following table.
You can always see how far I think you have progressed by going to the on-line grade sheet. If you think that my records are inaccurate, it is very important that you send me email about it immediately. Here's a schedule that has worked for previous versions of this class (modified for this year's calendar). But if you can go faster, especially in the beginning, all the better. As the semester progresses, the exercises will get harder, and you'll have more to do in your other classes.
