Strip Map of Transit Rd. Restaurants

In the northerly City of Lockport, NY-78 is called "South Transit Rd.". Just south of that, in South Lockport, it is called "South Transit Street". But now come the real oddities:

1. The house numbering differs in each town:
   1. Even numbers are almost always on the west, and odd numbers are almost always on the east. The exception is the City of Lockport, where odd numbers are on the west side of S. Transit St.

   2. In Erie County, the numbers always decrease from north to south. But in South Lockport (Niagara County), the numbers increase from north to south!

   3. Where Transit is the boundary between Amherst (on the west) and Clarence (on the east), the numbers on the east and west sides of the street bear no relationship to each other.
      • E.g., Vino e Vito, at 9210 Transit Rd. (Amherst), is across the street from Pautler's, at 6343 Transit Rd. (Clarence).
      • The restaurant Zoé used to solve this problem by giving their address as 5711 East Transit Rd.!

   4. And south of Wehrle Dr., which separates Clarence (on the east) from Lancaster (also on the east), the numbers are also discontinuous, jumping from the 4000s in Clarence to the 6000s in Lancaster. But keep in mind that there are also houses numbered in the 6000s on Transit in Clarence!

   5. House numbers on Transit in Amherst and Cheektowaga (both on the west side of the street) seem to be continuous, and house numbers on both sides of Transit along the Cheektowaga-Lancaster border also seem to match up. But I think they only did that to confuse us!

2. But, in my opinion, nothing compares to what happens in the Cheektowaga/Lancaster/Depew area:
   1. Antoinette's, at 5981 Transit Rd., is at the corner of French & Transit on the Lancaster side of Depew (don't forget, Depew straddles Cheektowaga on the west and Lancaster on the east). And Ying's, at 1460 French Rd., is at the corner of French & Transit on the Cheektowaga side of Transit in South Cheektowaga. Here's the kicker: They are about 3 miles apart! Why?…

   2. …Because there are two streets in Cheektowaga called "French Road". (There's also a North French Rd. that crosses Transit in Amherst, but at least it's called "North" French.)
      1. The more northerly of the two French Rds. is located entirely within Depew. It begins in the Cheektowaga portion of Depew as a continuation of George Urban Blvd., where George Urban cuts south between Sherwood Ct. & King Ave., and it continues across Transit into the Lancaster portion of Depew, until it merges with Columbia Ave.

      2. The most southerly of the (three) French Rds. is located partly in West Seneca and mostly in South Cheektowaga. It is itself discontinuous, with a western section beginning at Clinton St. in West Seneca and merging into Old Union Rd. at the West Seneca-Cheektowaga border, and an eastern section starting up again (as Rt. 321), a bit further to the south, at Union Rd. in Cheektowaga, finally ending at Transit.

      3. To make matters worse, all of the "north" French Rd. (as opposed to North French Rd.) is in zip code 14043 ("Depew, NY"), which includes most, but not all, of the Village of Depew, as well as southeasterly portions of Cheektowaga and southwesterly portions of the Town of Lancaster. And some of the southernmost French Rd. is also in 14043! But not all of it (the western portion is in 14227). And some of the house numbers seem to overlap, but not in the same zip code.
